The career of wine merchant Alexis Heugas
With a degree in hotel and restaurant management, the owner of Cave Joffre began his career in the accommodation sector. However, after a few years on the job market, he decided to change careers to return to the world of wine, which he liked so much. After his meeting with the wine estate, a love affair was born. Alexis saw his attraction to the sector grow as he met winemakers, and enriched his skills to share his knowledge and passion. In September 2022, he opened his own wine cellar "La Cave Joffre" in Garches (92).
The cellar has a small delicatessen section with a range of spreads for aperitifs. As for the cellar, the wine journey is made through France by discovering the main wine-producing regions. Alexis carefully selects his suppliers according to their history and know-how, offering quality products. There is also a section dedicated to spirits from French houses and distilleries: gin, whisky and eaux-de-vie. You will also find products from around the world such as Scotch whisky and rums from the Caribbean.
The steps to design a wine cellar
Before becoming the current "Cave Joffre", the 35m² premises were used as offices for a property company. The owner decided not to be accompanied by a professional for the layout of his business. He was inspired by photos of wine cellar layouts to design his current layout. With the help of a craftsman, he carried out some refurbishment work to give his premises a new look.
In designing his cellar, he wanted to create a warm and friendly place. It was very important for the wine merchant to have furniture made from solid wood to present his wine offer, in order to have a traditional and natural style. In choosing this type of furniture, he wanted to create a contrast with the white and dark grey walls. This contrast makes it possible to play with the volumes and highlight his offer of quality furniture.
The furnishings were chosen in the color Bois Vieilli to maintain harmony in the shop. The solid wood associated with this finish brought a warm atmosphere, favorable to sharing and exchange.
