Meeting with Mathieu, owner of the Atelier du Glaneur

A motivated and well-considered career change

After a career in the hotel and tourism industry, Mathieu started his career in several large companies. However, the Covid-19 pandemic was a trigger for him, pushing him to question his professional life and to look for an activity that would bring him more meaning and concreteness. This is how he began a professional reconversion in October 2021 in order to start his own business.

For his conversion, Mathieu followed a vocational training course in Angers to obtain a CAP florist diploma, during which he did internships in various shops, ranging from traditional independent businesses to florists in large supermarkets and flower shops for prestigious events, such as the Élysée Palace. It was during this training that he discovered all the facets of the profession, both artistic and business.

Although he has never been a big customer of traditional florists finding that there could be a cold, unattractive atmosphere. As a result, the owner of Atelier du Glaneur has imagined a shop where customers come not only to buy a simple bouquet of flowers but also to enjoy a unique sensory and shopping experience. His idea is to create a world that combines industrial and natural elements, using a mixture of materials and textures for a result that is both modern and functional, thanks in part to adapted florist furniture.

A layout designed to provide a sensory experience

Initially, the premises were occupied by an estate agency with two offices and a waiting room. Everything was destroyed and completely renovated. The sales area was enlarged, a workshop was created with sliding doors, a storage area was created and the ceilings were raised for greater headroom. Light fittings were installed, an interior window was added for a clean and simple look and the walls and floor were changed.

Mathieu was not accompanied by a professional for this work. He thought of everything himself based on the size of the room, the volumes, and the atmosphere he wanted to create. He worked with his partner. First, he imagined the desired atmosphere and convenience, then he looked for the furniture to design the layout of his flower shop.

For the owner, several criteria were important in the choice of his florist furniture. First of all, functionality was the main criterion. Secondly, the ease of moving the furniture for cleaning, the presence of varnish to protect it from water, and sturdiness so that it would not have to be changed every year were also important.

Solid wood was selected as it is a material known for its strength and natural, simple appearance. The florist's furniture had to be in keeping with the desired atmosphere. The owner of the Atelier du Glaneur was prepared to pay more for quality. He chose the color Old Wood, which creates an interesting contrast with the waxed concrete floor. He is satisfied with the result.

Quality products and services adapted to retailers

Mathieu discovered the Tradis website while searching for furniture suitable for his florist business. After visiting the shops of his colleagues, he understood that it was crucial to select florist furniture belonging to the same range to reinforce the identity of his brand.

For him, it was easy to visualize his business equipped with all the furniture available on the Tradis website. He appreciated the variety of furniture offered, which allowed him to design his premises from A to Z. He found the site to be practical and easy to use, with choices in terms of colors, types, and sizes of furniture, leaving a lot of scope for design.

Mathieu is satisfied with his experience with Tradis. The furniture, delivered assembled, was quickly set up in his room and he appreciated the quality and protection of the furniture during transport.
