Meet Pierre, owner of the NectarS de France wine cellar

A Made in France wine cellar

Pierre, the owner of the NectarS de France wine cellar, has had an unusual career. He started his career as a business engineer, then moved to India to seize a new opportunity, where he stayed for several years. After returning to France, Pierre needed a change in his life. He started by buying wine for friends. One thing led to another, and he developed a taste for the exchanges and advice that these transactions required. Having had a passion for wine since he was 20, he decided to make a career change. He knew he was cut out for it. So he went back to school to develop his skills and knowledge in the sector, also obtaining diplomas to affirm his expertise.

The NectarS de France wine shop was opened in September 2022, and the winery officially opened its doors in July 2023 in Reuil Malmaison, on the outskirts of Paris. The business has a concept all of its own. Pierre planned his new business with three important aspects in mind. Firstly, he realised that his sector of activity is highly competitive, which means he has to stand out from the crowd if he is to succeed. To achieve this, he developed a strategy. Secondly, the winery owner noted that France is famous for its delicious drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. That's why he decided to focus on marketing exclusively French drinks through short distribution channels to guarantee their quality. What's more, Pierre noticed that too many bottles of drinks were being sold too young on the market. So he decided to stock bottles and let them age in his establishment. He plans to offer them on his premises in a few years' time when their flavour and value will have increased. Finally, the wine merchant has set up a subscription system he calls "cave en main". This system allows customers to personalise their own cellar by choosing drinks that meet their individual preferences. This offers a unique experience to its customers while strengthening its customer base.

A well-thought-out layout and shopping experience

Before it was a wine cellar, the business was an old restaurant. The wine merchant tore it down and rebuilt it to reflect his image. The sales area is around 38m², and the customer flow is circular. The counter is in the centre of the room, and the large shelves are against the walls. The idea here is for customers to walk around the counter to discover the products, and to ask the owner any questions they may have. The space has been maximised to ensure that the shopping experience is fluid and clear and that all the beverages have optimum exposure. The sales area also has a basement store for ageing bottles of wine.

The owner of NectarS de France chose not to be accompanied in the layout of his business. Having studied at a business school, he knows all about marketing and merchandising. As for his work, he called on contractors to help him. He knew exactly what he wanted for his decor: a rather contemporary space with black brick walls, spotlights in the ceilings and a waxed concrete floor. So the colour Old Wood for his furniture was a natural choice. Pierre is delighted with the final result, which he finds cosy and very modern.

Quality furniture and services for retailers

Even before starting his search, Pierre the wine merchant had a clear idea of the type of furniture he wanted for his business. Having worked with solid wood for many years, he knew that there was no better way to ensure quality and sturdiness than with wooden furnishings. Regarding purchasing criteria, the owner paid particular attention to how his bottles would be presented. He didn't want them to be too close together; he wanted a clear, airy display. And given his circular buying pattern, the shelves and wine display units selected were just what he was looking for. The wine merchant was able to find all the information he needed on the product sheets, such as the dimensions of the units, their capacity and the delivery times for each unit.

Today, Pierre is generally satisfied with his experience with Tradis. The furnishings he has selected meet all his criteria and reflect the image of his cellar: high-quality, user-friendly and modern. As for the services offered, delivery by appointment was more than appreciated to meet his deadlines, particularly during the work on his premises. The wine merchant is so happy, that he could recommend Tradis to other experts looking for furniture adapted to their professions, needs and expectations.
